Twitter

The programs listed on twitter are good advertising for the Library. As far as all the comments etc, for me, a waste of time!!!! Get a life people!!! Sorry, I just don't get it.

Library Thing is something we could recommend to customers to keep track of what they read. Some customers ask us if we keep track of the books they have signed out so this would be a useful tool for those customers. I really liked the book reviews and it could be helpful for someone looking for a new author. So far ,I think this is one of the more useful resources we have covered.

The Google calender would be usefull, but for me the old fashioned pencil and paper is how I remember to do things. I'm thinking that if I had to start up my computer at home to check for appointments etc, I would get frustrated because we don't leave the computer on, saving on power, you know. It just depends what a person is used to.

2.0 Flickr and Utube

I can't really think when or where I personally would use Flickr.

Utube is entertaining, just like Funniest home videos, but I think it would soon become boring.

2.0 RRS
I was successful in adding a feed to my Blogline, I added www.medlineplus.com. I'm not sure if this is something I would use on a regular basis, I'm sure some people would though.

Google 2.0

Wow, lots to offer on Google, I really liked the Google books, images and Google Earth. The Google books contains some full text books, it depends who they partner with. Lots of books are not available in full text though. It's worth a shot if we are out of something!!

Facebook

I enjoy my account, I can keep in touch with what my kids are up to!! I have made contact with some old friends that I may not have if not for Facebook. Some of the stuff is a waste of time, of course, but everyone likes something different.

I have looked through alot of the Delicious sites and having them grouped by topic is helpfull. A customer can see many sites related to their topic with one click of the mouse. Sometimes knowing what topic to check under could be a challenge but we are able to make an alphabetical list. We use the citizenship site at VILSQ alot, it is very helpfull. Alot of ours customers are writing citizenship exams and the info is great.

What will I learn?

What do I hope to learn from this training, most of this is new to me so I will learn some patience as well as how to use all the resources! I have Facebook already, but I'm sure I can learn more about it. Twitter might be fun!!
